Description

Filet Crocheted Doilies:  These two filet crocheted doilies can either be wade of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton depending on their use. They can be used as buffet sets, luncheon sets or as odd doilies. The pattern includes a filet chart for each doily also directions describing how the Charts are to be used.  Depending upon materials used, the oval doilies are 18 x 24 or 12 x 16 inches.   The round doilies may be 12 or 8 inches in diameter.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1671 in 1938.   The official newspaper description:  "Get out your crochet hook and string and start adding beauty to your home.with these filet doilies.The doilies are lovely for luncheon or buffet sets or extra doilies if you like".

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook, 
  • or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (286 yard) balls and a No. 14 steel crochet hook.
  • 2 balls of fine cotton or 2 skeins of heavy cotton will make 1 large and 1 small doily.
