Description

Filet Crochet Chair Set:  This filet crochet chair set, made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton, may also be used as a buffet set or the large piece may be used as ends for scarfs. The pattern includes a filet chart for the chair back and the arm rest, also instructions describing how the charts are to be followed.  The arms rests will measure 6 x 13 inches; the chair back is 13 x 16 inches.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 599 in 1936.  The newspaper description:  "If you'll dress up your chairs in filet crochet, the whole room will reflect their beauty. Used against dark upholstery this stately peacock is twice as effective set off as he is in solid stitch set off by two varying sizes of mesh. The set, done in string, is easy to crochet".

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins
  • No. 7 steel crochet hook.
  • 2 skeins of cotton will make a chair set or 2 scarf ends.
