Description

Filet Crochet Strips - Edging and Insertion: This filet crochet edging with its matching strips of insertion can either be made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The work is done in straight strips and overcast together to form bedspreads, cloths, and scarfs or the edging may be used as an edging for curtains. The pattern includes a chart for the edging and the insertions, also directions describing how the charts are to be used.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspaper advertisements.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 5990 in 1937.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook, or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (125 yard) balls and a No. 12 steel crochet hook. A ball of No. 50 Cotton will make approximately 7 inches of edging or 10 inches of insertion; a skein of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton will make approximately 25 inches of edging or 33 inches of insertion.
