Description
Filet Crochet Squares Pattern: These two filet squares—the one a basket and the other a rose—are to be worked in string or fine crochet cotton. They may be combined for bedspreads, tea cloths, scarfs, pillows and buffet sets; each design may be used alone if desired. The pattern includes a chart of each square. The design may be created in either 6-1/2 or 10 inch squares. Note: my copy of this pattern is in poor shape, the charts are scarred, but useable.
This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1743 in 1937.
Materials: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook. Each square requires approximately 150 yards of heavy cotton or 92 yards of fine cotton.
