Filet Crochet Scarfs Mats, Laura Wheeler 371

Filet Crocheted Scarfs and Mats:  This pattern contains directions for making three different scarfs and a mat. The scarfs can be made either of No. 30, No. 50 or No. 70 Mercerized Crochet Cotton; the choice of the cotton governs the size and texture of the scarf. The mat is to be made of No 70 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. Included in the pattern is a filet chart for scarfs and mat.   The scarves may be crocheted in three sizes each in small, medium and large sizes.  The mats are 12 x 16 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 371 in 1940.  The newspaper description:  "Here's a lovely filet crochet for any room. The scarf (given in many sizes) and mats lend themselves to luncheon, buffet or dresser sets. Work on them for fall".
