Filet Crochet Sweetheart Luncheon Set No 1280

Filet Crochet Sweetheart Luncheon or Buffet Set:   Instructions are given, and charts shown, for making two sizes of hearts necessary to these sets. If #20 thread is used, with a #9 hook, the large heart will measure about 17 x 18 the smaller heart, 11 x 14”.   Make one large heart and two small ones to use on the buffet. For a matching luncheon set, join two large hears together at tops – to form an oblong centerpiece – and then make as many of the smaller hearts as needed for place mats. If the table is small, perhaps two of these smaller hearts can be joined to fashion the centerpiece.  

This is a Mail Order Pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed in 1949 as No 1280 by Needlework Bureau.

Material: #20 Mercerized crochet cotton – about 350 yds to make one large heart; 200 yds to make the smaller one. Multiple these figures by the number of hearts you plan to make, to find the yardage needed. Use a #9 crochet hook.
