Description

Filet Crocheted Doilies: These three crocheted doilies can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The doilies are started at the center and worked around and around. Included in the pattern is a chart for each doily.

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2034 in 1939.  The newspaper description:  "Add accessories that are different to your home - crochet these filet dolies. You'll start at the center and work your way round and round following the chart. There are endless uses for these doilies!"

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook,
  • or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook.
  • The large doily requires approximately 382 yards of heavy cotton or 256 yards of fine cotton; LARGE DOILY (19 INCHES IN DIAMETER IF MADE OF HEAVY COTTON; 14 INCHES IF MADE IN FINE COTTON) – 1ST ROUND:
  • The medium sized doily requires approximately 235 yards of heavy cotton or 175 yards of fine cotton, MEDIUM SIZED DOILY (14 INCHES IN DIAMETER IF MADE OF HEAVY COTTON; 10 INCHES IF MADE IN FINE COTTON):
  • The small doily requires approximately 73 yards of heavy cotton or 60 yards of fine cotton. SMALL DOILY (8 INCHES IN DIAMETER IF MADE OF HEAVY COTTON; 5 1/2 INCHES IF MADE OF FINE COTTON):
