Description

Filet Crochet Chair Set:  This filet crochet. chair set, made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton may be made with or without the initial. The design may also be used as a buffet' set or the large piece may be used as ends for scarfs. If desired the initials may be made separately and used as insets for various linens the choice of cotton depending on the use of the initial. For heavy' linens such as scarfs, bath towels, pillows and luncheon cloths use heavy cotton; for the finer linens such as guest towels, tea cloths, sheets and pillow cases use the fine cotton. The pattern includes a filet chart for the chair back and arm rest and for an alphabet; also instructions describing how the charts are to be followed.    When completed, the chair back will measure15 x 16 inches and the arm rests are 6 x 12 inches each. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1528 in 1937.   The newspaper description:  "Cool pond lillies graceful reeds and your own initial! (The letters may also be used on linens - separately or monograms). What could form a lovlier motif for a chair set that will lend a bright touch to any room!"

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook. 2 skeins of cotton will make a chair set or 2 scarf ends.
