Description

Filet Crocheted Doilies:  This pattern contains directions and charts for making two oblong and two round doilies. The doilies can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton.   The small round doilies are 7 or 10 inches; the large doilies 11 or 17 inches in diameter.  The small oblong doilies are 9 x 13 or 13 x 19 inches and the large oblong doily are 13 x 19 or 19 x 28 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 6556 in 1939.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (125 yard) balls and a No. 14 steel crochet hook.  

The large oblong doily requires approximately 750 yards of heavy cotton or 460 yards of fine cotton; The small oblong doily requires approximately 335 yards of heavy cotton or 225 yards of fine cotton.  The large round doily requires approximately 175 yards of heavy cotton or 100 yards of fine cotton; The small round doily requires approximately 145 yards of heavy cotton or 90 yards of fine cotton.
