Irish Rose Crocheted Medallion, Laura Wheeler 2724

Crocheted Medallion:  This crocheted medallion can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The medallions may be crocheted at 6 or 4 inches, depending upon materials selected.  When joined together, the medallions form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2724 in 1941.   

Materials:  Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.   Each medallion requires approximately 34 yards of heavy cotton or 24 yards of fine cotton.  One skein of cotton is required for fringe.
