Description

Design 6411 : This pattern contains instructions to knit the bedspread pictured above (squares are combined using crochet stitches). This mail order pattern, distributed through Alice Brooks dates back to 1939. This knitted square is to be made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. The square can be made either of two strands worked together or of a single strand. When joined together the squares form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows. Included in the pattern are directions for making fringe. Each square is 10 inches.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 6411 in 1939.  "Knitting with two strands of string speeds the making of these 10 inch squares that even a beginner will show with pride.  Keep one of these squares at hand to fill odd moments - you'll be surprised how many you'll get done.  Before long you'll have enough to join into a lovely hand knitted bedspread or scarf".

Materials:   Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton;   No 4 bone (American) or No 10 bone (Canadian) knitting needles;   No 2 steel crochet hook
