This vintage 1944 pattern was marketed as a chair set.  The motif, with less panels, would also make an attractive scarf for your neck.

Description

Knitted Chair Set:    This pattern gives directions to knit the chair set pictured.   This piece is knit in stripes of fagotting and fern stitches, with a bit of garter stitch tossed. in.   The chair back will measure 13-1/2 x 15 inches and the arm rests are 7-1/2 inches each (excluding fringe).   Although marketed as a chair set, this design would serve equally well, knit longer, into a neck scarf. 

Materials:  J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. PEARL COTTON, Size 5: 8 balls;   Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1.   

GAUGE: 1 fagotting stripe and 1 fern stripe make 2-1/2 inches.
