Knitted Halter and Ruffled Bucket Bag Pattern

Ruffled Halter and Bag : This pattern contains directions to knit, crochet detail, the set pictured above. This design, vintage 1952 from Botany Brand, is for both a halter top and matching handbag. The halter is quite low cut with thin straps the secures behind the neck. The back is lowered and the top is below waist length. The pattern stitch is ruffled, giving a great textured effect. The matching handbag, also ruffed, is bucket style with a drawstring closure. The top is written for misses size 10, with changes for 12 and 14 in parentheses.

MATERIALS:

• Botany Brand Aquatones Pompadour (2 oz. pull skein). Blouse: 3 (3, 4) sks. Bag: 1 sk.
• No. 2 and No. 4 knitting needles.
• No. 1 steel crochet hook.
• 10 buttons.
• A few yds. narrow round elastic;
• 1/4 yd. Lining.

GAUGE: 6 ½ sts = 1"; 8 rows =1".
