Knitted Ric-Rac Trimmed Sweater, Anne Cabot 5701

Ric-Rac Trimmed Sweater.   This pattern gives directions to knit, crochet detail, the sweater blouse pictured.   This easy sweater, semi-fitted, short sleeved is front buttoned, below hip length and is trimmed with crocheted ric-rac lace.  The pattern is written for size 14 and 16, with changes for size 18 in parenthesis.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Anne Cabot 5701 in 1944.  The newspaper description:  "It's knitted, in white or pastels - and it's trimmed with the smartest rickrack made of crochet. The trim is sewn on the finished sweater. It's a young looking sweater to wear with suits, with separate sports skirts or slacks".

Materials:  7 oz. of Cashmere Sport Yarn, Navy Blue (8 oz. for size 18) or Shetland Floss., 1 oz. of Cashmere Sport Yarn or Shetland Floss, White;   8 buttons, about 3/4 inch in diameter;   Needles: #1 steel crochet hook. #5 knitting needles.
