Large Flower Pineapple Doily Pattern Design 2819

Pineapple Doily : This pattern contains directions for crocheting the doily pictured. This pretty doily, worked in Mercerized Crochet Cotton Size 30, is like a large flower. It has a center flower center detail that spreads out to 9 large pineapple petals. The pineapples are worked separately and joined to the doily, then the final border is added. The finished doily will measure 19 inches in diameter.

This is a Mail Order Pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   The pattern was marketed as Peggy Roberts R-2819 (Needlework Bureau) in 1949.  The newspaper description:  "Collectors of pineapple design will appreciate this lovely centerpiece. Not only is the design unusual and beautiful, but the pineapples are crocheted in a new and exiting manner. Finished centerpiece measures 19 inches".
