Description

Chevron Sweater:   This pattern gives directions to knit the sweater shown.   The official 1953 magazine description:  "French-styled favorite for leisure hours, a husky sweater to go on a hike this Fall. The on-color chevron pattern is a close cousin to the popular herringbone texture. Neck, armholes, cuffs and waist are bound with ribbing".  

Sizes: Directions are for small size (3638). Changes for medium size (40-42) and large size (44-46) are in parentheses.  

Materials:  Penguin Nageur, 12 (12-13) 2-oz. (approx.) balls.   Knitting needles Nos. 1 and 3. (Or, English sizes, 12 and 10.)  

Gauge: 7-1/2"=1" ; 10 rows=1".
