Description

Oblong Centerpiece: This pattern gives directions to crochet the oval centerpiece pictured. The official description: "This pattern may be used to make matching pieces of lace, once the method of making and joining medallions is understood -- the fan-edging being easily adapted to any number of them. For instance, two medallions might be joined to make a Chair-Back, a single medallion for the Arm Rest; four might be joined to make a Square centerpiece; four (lengthwise) to make a Scarf, etc".

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers. The pattern was marketed by Needlework Bureau as E-1016 well as Martha Madison.  "Beautiful medallions are crocheted, joined and finished with a lacy fan edging to make this effective scarf for a table"

MATERIAL (for centerpiece shown):

  • About 450 yds Mercerized Crochet Cotton #20.
  • #9 steel crochet-hook.

If this size hook and thread are used, the resulting piece will be about 14" x 23" in size – after blocking.

The patterns in this shop are reformatted vintage designs; crisp clean documents with one and a half line spacing. The pattern is a PDF download. A link will be forwarded to your email address within a couple minutes.
