Description

Silver Sands:   This pattern contains directions to crochet the mat shown.   Officially titled 'silver sands', which I would presume is based on the use of a metallic thread, which would give it the glittering look that sand can take on when the sun hits it.   The place mat is oval and measures 12 x 18 inches.   The design is vintage 1950s, 1955 to be exact, from Coats and Clark. 

Materials:  J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN" METALLIC, Art. A.64: 6 balls of No. 10-A Canary Yellow.  (Double thread used throughout);   Milwards Steel Crochet HookNo. 2/0 (double zero).
