Description

Crocheted Doilies:  This pattern contains directions for making two crocheted doilies worked in pineapple design. They can be made either of No. 50 or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. Each doily is suitable for many uses. Combined they can be used as buffet or luncheon sets.  Crochet the large doilies at 13 x 22, 18 x 26 or 24 x 38 inches.  Crochet the small doilies are 10 x 12, 13 x 15, or 18 x 23-1/2 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Designs pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 649 in 1945. The design was also featured in the 1946 Laura Wheeler Designs Catalog

MATERIALS:  No 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook, or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook, or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.  The large doily requires approximately 400 yards of No. 50 cotton or 500 yards of No. 30 cotton or 700 yards of heavy cotton. The small doily requires approximately 150 yards of No. 50 cotton or 225 yards of No. 30 cotton or 300 yards of heavy cotton.
