Oval Pinwheel Doily Crochet Pattern Design 2834

Crocheted Doilies: This pattern gives directions for crocheting the doilies pictured. The design is a lovely pinwheel motif that can be worked in either oval or round shape.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2834 in 1941. The pattern was featured in the 1944 Alice Brooks Designs Catalog.  The newspaper description:  "Simple and effective - in string or finer cotton, you'll find these doilies (the larger one makes a scarf in string), lend a touch of luxury to your home. Use them as a buffet or luncheon set.

Materials: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.  The large doily requires approximately 510 yards of heavy cotton or 392 yards of fine cotton. The small doily requires approximately 205 yards of heavy cotton or 155 yards of fine cotton.
