Description

Crocheted Medallion: This pattern gives directions to crochet the medallion shown. This pineapple medallion can be made either of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. When joined together the medallions form bedspreads, cloths, chair sets and pillows. The chain loop border is worked around joined medallions to complete each article. Depending upon materials used, the medallion may measure 6 or 9 inches in diameter.

This is a Mail Order Pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 683.   

Materials:   No. 50 Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (450 yard) balls and a No. 12 steel crochet hook;   or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (700 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.   Each medallion requires approximately 50 yards of fine cotton or 76 yards of heavy cotton. 2 (450 yard) balls of No. 50 cotton will make a chair set or a pillow; 29 balls of No. 50 cotton will make a single bed size bedspread and 33 balls will make a double bed size bedspread; 9 balls will make a 42 x 46 inch bridge cloth and 13 balls will make a 50 x 58 inch luncheon cloth.
