Description

Portland: This pattern gives directions to crochet the afghan pictured. This vintage 1943 pattern contains instructions to crochet the afghan pictured above. Officially named Portland, this is New Englands version of the old Mt Vernon, or Granny Afghan, as it is sometimes called. The boldness of this design suggests the rugged simplicity of our Pilgrim Ancestors. The finished afghan, made up of 120 square blocks, is approx. 60 x 72 inches.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  • MINERVA MILADY KNITTING YARN (4 ounce skeins), 18 Skeins-Assorted Colors,8 Skeins-Black OR
  • MINERVA AFGHAN GERMANTOWN (2 ounce skeins) 30 Skein Asssorted Colors, 14 Skeins-Black
  • 1 No. 2 STEEL CROCHET HOOK

GAUGE: 3 Sts ½ inch. (Finished square measures around 6 inches).
