The Puritan: This pattern gives directions for crocheting the spread shown. The vintage 1940 design, from American Thread Co., is called The Puritan. A number of different squares or medallions carry this name; primarily a factor on the thread brand. This particular Puritan is made in 5 inch squares that are joined to form bedspreads, or other cloths as desired.
Materials: 32 Balls of American Thread Company "Puritan" Mercerized Cotton, White, Ecru or Cream or "Trojan" Crochet Cotton, White, Ecru, Cream or Beige; Steel Crochet Hook #6 or 7. (Each Motif measures about 5 inches and 216 Motifs, (12 x 18) are required to make spread measuring about 62 x 92 inches without the 7 inch fringe.
