Rainbow Crochet Afghan Pattern

Rainbow Afghan: This pattern contains instructions to crochet the lovely afghan shown above. According to Minerva: "The sign of the Rainbow suggests a happy future. The design of the afghan shows true American Indian inspiration". I'd think, in current times, the design would be better termed a ripple. Work stripes as suggested, or in a color scheme of your own choosing. It will be an heirloom to be proud of.

This is a Minerva pattern from 1943. The finished afghan is approx. 66 x 72 inches.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

• MINERVA MILADY KNITTING YARN (4 ounce skeins),6 Skeins-Brown (2 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light) 6 Skeins-Green (2 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 6 Skeins-Rose (2 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 3 Skeins-Blue (1 skein each-Dark, Medium, Light). 3 Skeins-Red (1 skein each-Dark, Medium, Light), 8 Skeins-Black -OR-
• MINERVA AFGHAN GERMANTOWN (2 ounce skeins), 9 Skeins-Brown (3 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 9 Skeins-Green (3 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 9 Skeins-Rose (3 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 6 Skeins-Blue , (2 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 6 Skeins-Red (2 skeins each-Dark, Medium, Light), 14 Skeins-Black
• ATHENA NONINFLAMMABLE CROCHET HOOK- Size 4-6 inch
