Description

Rambling Rose Filet : This pattern gives directions to create the squares shown. Here are two separate squares - a leaf and a rose block. Depending upon materials used, the blocks will may have different measurements - see below. Create and join the blocks to form cloths and spreads in sizes of your choice.

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers. This pattern was marketed as No 355-N as Martha Madison Needlework in 1958.    

Materials:   If tatting cotton is used with a #12 Steel Crochet hook, the squares will measure approximately 5". For a teacloth approximately 35" x 35", make 25 rose squares and 24 leaf squares--49 squares in all; for a tablecloth approximately 65" x 85", make 111 rose and 110 leaf squares--221 in all;   

If Size 30 crochet cotton is used with a #11 Steel Crochet Hook, the squares will measure approximately 5 2/3". For a teacloth approximately 40" x 40", make 25 rose an 24 leaf squares--49 squares in all; for a tablecloth approximately 63" x 85", make 83 rose and 82 leaf squares--165 squares in all.   If Size 20 crochet cotton is used with a #10 Steel Crochet Hook, the squares will measure approximately 7". For a teacloth approximately 49" x 49", make 25 rose and 24 leaf squares--49 squares in all; for a tablecloth approximately, 63" x 91", make 59 rose and 58 leaf squares--117 squares in all.

If Size 10 crochet cotton is used with a #7 Steel Crochet Hook, the squares will measure approximately 8 1/2". For a teacloth approximately 43" x 43", make 13 rose and 12 leaf squares--25 in all; for a tablecloth approximately 60" x 93", make 39 rose and 38 leaf squares--77 in all.

For Bedspread -- 57, 250-yd. balls of White, Ecru, Beige or Cream Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. Steel Crochet Hook #5. Each square measures approximately 11 1/3", and 70 squares are required for spread measuring 79" x 113". If wide spread is required, add another row of squares to width. If open corners are required (as for a four-poster bed), squares may be omitted from lower corners at foot of bed.
