Ribbon Striped Crochet Filet Placemat Pattern

Ribbon Rows : Here is a nice variation of the typical crocheted placemat pattern. This design, vintage 1950s from Coats and Clark, features a 12-1/2 by 18 inch mat made up in filet crochet. Then, strands of grosgrain ribbon are weaved through, giving it that 'over-the-top' look of elegance. Set of these would be supurb for holiday decorating or special events.

MATERIALS:   J & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN." Art. A.64: 1 ball of White; or Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Bedspread Cotton, Art. B.504: 1 ball of White; OR - J & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Art. A. or B.19, Size 5: 4 balls of White;   - Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No.7;  - 6 yards of bittersweet grosgrain ribbon, 1/2 inch wide.
