Description

Crocheted One Hour Hat: This pattern contains directions to crochet the hat shown. This is an easy pattern to make a hat 'in one hour', as the pattern states. The pattern is a simple calot with ruffles. First there is a row of ruffles all the way around the outer edge with a ribbon woven through, ending with a bow at the top. Then, there is a second ruffle at the back center crown.

This is a mail order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Needlework Bureau 1814 in 1943  The newspaper description:  "You'll be well paid for the hour it takes to make this hat, even at overtime rates. You couldn't buy one for six times the cost, which is about 60 cents. For summer crochet it in celtagel or rayon straw. For Fall and Winter, it looks quite different in wool".
