Scarf Styled Crocheted Hat and Drawstring Bag

The Star Spangled Bonnet : This pattern contains directions to crochet the set shown. A cute set, vintage 1950s from American Thread, contains both a hat and a bag. The hat, somewhat bonnet, somewhat scarf, sits on the head, crimped in the back with a tail that hangs down. A conversation started, for sure ! The bag is drawstring styled with a flat bottom and petal top. Both are adorned with a random sprinkling of beads and sequins.

Gauge for hat using single strand of thread: 7 sts = 1 inch.

Gauge for bag using double strand of thread: 11 sts = 2 inches.
