Shell Afghan Pillow Knitting Pattern Mail Order Design 718

Shell Medallion Afghan & Pillow : This pattern contains instructions to knit (crochet border) the afghan pictured above. The pattern includes the knitted afghan and matching pillow worked in a shell-shaped medallions in a four color combination. If desired, scraps of many different colors of knitting worsted can be used to make a gay multi-color afghan. Make the easy, jiffy knit medallions and half medallions first, join them later; finish bottom edge with crocheted border. Shell Medallions are 4 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. The finished afghan measures 48 x 60 inches and the matching pillow is 15 x 18 inches. A chart is included for the medallion layout. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 718.  The pattern appeared in newspaper advertisement once each in 1963, 1965, 1967 and 1970.    The Design was included in the 1967 Needlecraft Services Pattern Catalog. 

Materials Suggested:    Heavy knitting worsted in 4 oz skeins or 4-ply afghan yarn;    A pair of No 8 (American) or No 5 (English) knitting needles
