Description

Crocheted Globe : This pattern contains directions to crochet the globe pictured. The design, vintage 1950s, had an intended purpose to be used as a globe over a light fixture - versus the glass globes so standard at that time (and currently in some homes). This globe is crocheted a shown and then soaked in a starch solution. A round balloon is placed within the globe and blown up to from the shape of the globe. After drying, the balloon is popped.

In addition to using as a globe on a light fixture, I would be there are many other creative uses. How about making several and string them together to hang from a ceiling or stand on a floor as a totem might. Imagination is you only limit with something like this.
