Description

Crocheted Doilies:  This pattern contains directions for making a round and an oval pineapple doily. These doilies can be made either of No. 50 or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton, the choice of cotton governs the size and texture of doily.  Crochet the round doilies at 7 or 12 inches and the oval doilies at 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 or 11 x 14 inches.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7500 in 1943.  The newspaper description:  "Lovely, individual touches add so much to the pleasure of home life. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:   No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 14 steel crochet hook or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.  (The round doily requires approximately 64 yards of No. 50 cotton or 73 yards of No. 30 cotton or 110 yards of heavy cotton;   The oval doily requires approximately 60 yards of No. 50 cotton or 70 yards of No. 30 cotton or 95 yards of heavy cotton).
