This vintage 1942 design was billed as either a baby blanket or woman's shawl.  

Description

Knitted Shawl: This pattern contains directions to knit the shawl pictured. A very pretty piece in a lacy pattern stitch knit in Saxony. The edges are crocheted and soft and delicate layer of fringe is added all the way around. The finished piece will measure 40 x 40 inches ... making it equally perfect as a baby knit afghan or blanket. The pattern is vintage 1942.

Materials:   12 oz. Two-fold Saxony;   1 pr. #5 standard needle;   1 #2 steel crochet hook.

Gauge: 1 pattern to 2 ¾ inches, 8 rows to 1 inch.
