Square Neck Knitted Suit Pattern with Velvet Trim

Velvet Trimmed Suit : This pattern contains directions for knitting, crochet detail, the suit pictured. The design is a two piece suit knit in one color with a jacket and skirt. The easy skirt has a ribbed effect pattern stitch and elastic waistline. The waist length jacket has a front double breasted effect with a lower squared neckline and long sleeves. Note the ribbon lacings tied in bows and the matching velvet buttons. The pattern, vintage 1956, is written for misses size 12, with changes for 14, 16 and 18 in parentheses.

Materials:

• Spinnerin Dressy or Coquette, 15 (16-18-19) 1-oz. skeins for skirt, 12 (13-14-14) skeins for jacket.
• Straight knitting needles Nos. 1 and 2; 24" circular needle No. 2. (Or English sizes 12 and 11.)
• Steel crochet hook No. 4. 2 ½ yds.
• 1" velvet ribbon
• 16 button molds for jacket.
• One yd. 3/4" elastic for skirt.

GAUGE: 7 sts=1" ; 10 rows=1" (No. 2 needle).
