Two Piece Plaid Suit Knitting Pattern

Plaid Knit Suit : This pattern contains instructions for knitting the outfit shown. This is a great outfit, a two piece suit in the vintage Jackie O style. First there is a plaid jacket in three shades of knitting worsted, double breasted with long fitted sleeves and a small Peter Pan collar. The jacket is waist length and paired up with a pleated effect skirt with elasticized waistband. Whether you wear paired as a suit, or separates, you are sure to be pleased with the results. The pattern, vintage 1960s from Coats & Clark's is misses size 10, with changes for 12, 14, 16 and 18 in parentheses. This is an intermediate to advanced knitting pattern.

MATERIALS: COATS & CLARK'S "RED HEART" KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply ("Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) :

• For Skirt: No. 649 Olive Green 12 (13, 15, 16, 18) ounces.
• For Jacket: No. 649 Olive Green 11 (12, 14, 15, 17) ounces No. 668 Lime Green 8 (9, 11, 12, 14) ounces
• Circular Needle No. 8, 24-inch length for Sizes 10 and 12; 29-inch length for Sizes 14, 16 and 18.
• Knitting Needles, 1 pair No. 6 and No. 8.
• Elastic, 3/4 inch wide for waistband.
• 10 bone rings, 1/2 inch in diameter for buttons.

GAUGE: Skirt-14 sts (1 pleat) = 3 inches; 13 rnds = 2 inches. Jacket-5 sts = 1 inch; 11 rows = 2 inches.
