Description

Spanish Sash and Vest: This pattern gives directions for knitting, crochet detail, the items pictured. The design, vintage 1951, features a vest with an extra deep u-shaped neckline that ends with button closure and is waist length. Pair up with the sash, as desired. The official description: "Gay as a holiday in Mexico, black vest with tiny bows of red, green and yellow cleverly knitted in on front. Red knit sash". The pattern is written for misses sizes 12, 14 and 16.

Materials:   3-Ply Fingering Yarn, 2 1-oz. skeins each of Black and Red, 1 skein each of Maize and Green;   Knitting needles Nos. 1 and 2 (standard). English sizes, 12 and 11.   Steel crochet hook No. 4.   1/2 yd. 1" grosgrain. ribbon;   1/2 yd. black fabric for sash lining;   Six ornamental black buttons for front closing;   

Gauge: Ribbing, 9 sts=1". Stockinette, 8 sts=1".
