Description

Jiffy Crocheted Cloth:  This table cloth can either be made of two strands of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton worked together or of a single strand of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The weight of the cotton governs the size of cloth. Directions are given telling where to end off to make two sizes in each material.

This is a Mail Order Designs pattern purchased through newspapers.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2040 in 1940.

HEAVY CLOTH - APPROXIMATELY 60 INCHES OR 32 INCHES IN DIAMETER: A 60 inch cloth requires 5 (700 yard) skeins and a 32 inch cloth requires 2 skeins of unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 1 steel crochet hook. For these cloths use two strands of cotton worked together, this will make a very heavy thread.

MEDIUM WEIGHT CLOTHS - APPROXIMATELY 44 INCHES OR 23 INCHES IN DIAMETER: A 44 inch cloth requires 3 (500 yard) skeins and a 23 inch cloth requires 1 skein of unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 7 steel crochet hook.

FINE DOILIES - APPROXIMATELY 32 INCHES OR 17 INCHES IN DIAMETER: A 32 inch doily requires 7 (150 yard) balls and a 17 inch doily requires 5 balls of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.
