Whirling Star Crocheted Medallion : This pattern contains directions for crocheting the square pictured. This pretty medallion, called Whirling Star, is also quite pinwheel like. Each square, worked in Mercerized Crochet Cotton, will measure 5-1/2 inches. Join the completed squares to create cloths, bedspreads or pillows.

This is a Mail Order Design Pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2714.  The newspaper description:  "Any beginner can crochet a luxury spread or cloth in this design. It's done a medallion at a time! And, Whirling Star is such an easy medallion to crochet!"

Materials:

• Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook
• OR No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.

Each medallion requires approximately 31 yards of heavy cotton or 21 yards of fine cotton.
